Yes it is good news but seriously, when it is such large project, Softwood projects or something else, you need to invest time to develop it any further. And time is not cheap.

But it is very good news nevertheless.

I hope the sources will be made open.

I do not believe so. Why should they? The others are not openning sources either. I personal prefer if it is done like with Magellan but it is their choice. BTW not every copyright owner would permit opensourcing software.

No, sources will stay closed. A free Version may be bounded to some AROS versions.

This is very true.   Nothing about this was or will be "cheap" :D

I do not believe so. Why should they?
Just because Pascal wrote about Communism somewhere.

If it will be bound to 'a certain AROS version' and if the sources will remain closed, I do not really see a difference between Terminills/Pascals actions and those of A-EON.

I'd pay for FW, but still think open source is the future.

Eh.. we discussed open sourcing. In that context I just said that there maybe a "free" version for of course our users. The "free" would differ from a "pro".
The difference is that we shipped and ship our products to all systems and not only to AROS for example.
I see a huge difference ; )

It is too early for decisions especially since i am on fire very quickly. We like to have a developer sitting here, working on it and getting some money back for electricity, food and beer.

There must be a counter position against AEONkit, else MOS and AROS will stay in the dark or even worse are forced to pay OS4 development.

Meanwhile PR-Manager Timothy will do PR. I am waaay too bad at this ; ) Oh and my "opinions" don't need to match to those of the rest of the crew. So take it with a grain of salt.

I believe open source is the future too.  However I would like to get at least some of my money back first.   Once we get to that point we will come back to decide the future of open sourcing it.   It all takes time.  For now it's all baby steps.

When I bought FinalWriter 97 it costed me around 115 EUR. It was really expensive back then...

But in my opinion the most important is to get that package to compile and it is going to take some time.
